The State Audit Office of Vietnam is willing to boost cooperation with its Myanmar counterpart, says National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

Mr Hung emphasized this at a February 7 reception for the visiting Myanmar Auditor General Lunn Maung in Hanoi. He said he believes Mr Maung’s visit will help increase the two countries’ auditing cooperation and contribute to the development of Vietnam-Myanmar relations.

The NA Chairman congratulated Myanmar on its successful recent election, saying that it was an important step towards national concord and development, as well as international integration.

The chief legislator said he was delighted at the achievements in cooperation between the two auditing agencies, proposing that both sides share professional experience in order to effectively implement the already-signed agreements.

He also stressed the importance of global and regional cooperation in auditing, especially as the global economic crisis is expanding, financial and economic relations are becoming more complicated, and there are more large-scale financial violations.

For his part, Auditor General Maung said he is pleased with the development of the Myanmar-Vietnam relationship since diplomatic ties were established in 1975.

He emphasized that Myanmar is now creating a democratic government and will spare no effort to develop the country.

Myanmar hopes to cooperate with Vietnam in many fields for mutual benefit, including auditing, he said.
