General Secretary Trong, who is also Chairman of the National Assembly, made this affirmation while receiving Cheuang Sombounkhan, Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Head of the Lao Government Secretariat, in Hanoi on June 6.

The Vietnamese Party leader expressed his pleasure at the development of the Vietnam-Laos solidarity, which has been nurtured by the two Parties, States, and peoples, particularly the two Government Offices.

Mr. Trong requested the two offices to boost exchanges of information and experience and coordinate in implementing agreements reached at the 33rd session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee.

He also conveyed his best regards to Lao Party General Secretary and State President Choummaly Sayasone.

Cheuang Sombounkhan thanked Vietnam for its valuable assistance to Laos, in the past and at present.

He said his believes that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will be able to speed up the national renewal process and basically build the nation into a modern industrialised country. 

The Lao Party, State and people are determined to develop the traditional friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, he said.
