The delegation was received by Salvador Valdes Mesa, member of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC)’s Political Bureau and General Secretary of the Cuban Workers Central Union (CTC) on May 2.

Both sides exchanged experiences in trade union activities and agreed to increase exchange of delegations and cooperation in personnel training.

On the occasion, Tung handed over US$10,000 and several sets of computer as part of a VND2 billion donation from Vietnamese workers to Cuban friends.

During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation met with Jorge Marti Martinez, Chairman of the CPC Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs, and attended an international meeting to show solidarity with Cuba. At the meeting held in Havana, Tung highlighted achievements the Cuban people have gained over 50 years of their revolutionary cause and affirmed Vietnam’s support to the Cuban people’s demand for an end to the US embargo and the release of five Cuban patriots who are being illegally detained in the US.

The Cuban National Assembly Deputy Chairman, Jaime Crombet, also received the Vietnamese delegation.
