At a meeting with the Head of the Communist Party of Cuba (CPC) Commission for External Relations, Jorge Marti on April 8, Mrs Khiet praised the achievement that Cuba has recorded over the years despite a 50-year embargo by the US and thanked the Cuban people for their valuable support to Vietnam in its struggle for national independence and during the Doi Moi (Renewal) process.

For his part, Mr Jorge Marti described Vietnam’s achievements as valuable experiences that Cuba could learn from to build a socialist-oriented market economy in the near future. He also briefed Mrs Khiet on the preparations being made for Cuba’s 6^th National Party Congress.

The same day, Mrs Khiet met with the Deputy Head of the CPC Central Committee’s Organisation Commission and the Director of the Office for Religious Affairs. They discussed the role of the Party leadership in mass organisations and religious issues.
