Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Nguyen Phuong Nga made the statement on June 4 while answering reporters’ query on Vietnam ’s response to the election of Naoto Kan as the new Japanese PM.

“We strongly believe that under the leadership of PM Naoto Kan, Japan will continue developing prosperously and the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan for peace and prosperity in Asia will further grow well in all aspects in line with the aspirations and benefits of the two peoples, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world,” she said.
