Vietnam congratulates Donald Trump as 47th US President

VOV.VN - On January 21 (Hanoi time), Party General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh extended their congratulations to Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.

The Vietnamese senior leaders emphasized that Vietnam regards the US as a strategically important partner. Highlighting significant strides in bilateral cooperation in recent years, they expressed confidence that under President Trump’s leadership, the Vietnam-US relationship will continue to thrive. This growth is expected to be anchored in mutual respect for independence, sovereignty, and political systems, contributing to regional and global peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development.

Their congratulations come at a significant moment, as the two nations celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1995–2025) and the second year of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

On the same day, Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan sent a congratulatory message to US Vice President James David Vance.
