Vietnam condemns Israel’s airstrike on Hamas in Qatar, urges peaceful resolution
VOV.VN - Vietnam has reaffirmed its consistent opposition to violence and called on all concerned parties to resolve disputes through peaceful means following Israel’s airstrike on Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar.
Responding to a reporter’s question about the September 9 attack, Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang said at a regular press conference on September 11 that Vietnam condemns the use of force as a violation of international law and the UN Charter, as well as an infringement of national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
She urged all parties involved to exercise restraint, avoid escalating tensions, and settle differences peacefully in strict accordance with international law and the UN Charter. Vietnam, she added, supports efforts to create conditions conducive to negotiations toward a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine conflict, for the sake of peace and stability in the region and in the world.
On citizen protection, Hang confirmed that immediately after the incident, the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar worked with local authorities and reached out to the Vietnamese community in the country.
“To date, no Vietnamese citizens have been reported affected. The embassy continues to closely monitor the situation and stands ready to implement citizen protection measures if necessary,” the spokesperson stated.
