The statement was made by Ambassador Vu Dung, Chief of the Vietnamese Mission to the United Nations, the World Trade Organisation (WTO), and other international organisations at the on-going UN Conference on Racial Discrimination in Geneva, Switzerland, on April 22.
The Vietnamese official expressed his concern about the alarming rise in racial and religious discrimination, intolerance and violence in many parts of the world.
“Vietnam is deeply concerned about the increasing national, racial and religious hostility, new kinds of racism and serious violations of human rights and humanitarian values during conflicts.”
The five-day UN Conference on Racial Discrimination, which opened on April 20, has attracted 40 top level delegations including one president, one prime minister, 27 ministers and 16 deputy ministers.
