The Vietnam Committee for Solidarity of Catholics met in Hanoi on January 3 to review the results of its personnel work and patriotic movements in recent times.

The meeting was attended by Pham The Duyet, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and Nguyen The Doanh, deputy head of the Standing Committee of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs.

Speaking on the occasion, Priest Nguyen Tan Khoa, President of the Vietnam Committee for Solidarity of Catholics emphasised that in 2006, Catholics in the whole country actively participated in the patriotic emulation movements. Among the notable achievements were the establishment of many healthcare centres to help HIV/AIDS patients, Agent Orange victims, orphans and the other children with disabilities and the raising of dozens of billions of dongs for charity and relief work in flood and typhoon-hit areas.
