A conference was held in Hanoi on May 12 to review the Vietnam-China land border demarcation with Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem in the chair.
Representatives from relevant ministries, sectors and seven northern mountainous provinces sharing the border with China attended the conference.
Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of the National Border Committee Ho Xuan Son, reported the results of implementing border demarcation and settling issues related to the Vietnam-China land border from 2001-2008 and highlighted future tasks for border management.
Border demarcation steering boards of the ministries of defence, public security, natural resources and environment and the provinces of Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Lao Cai and Ha Giang presented their reports.
Deputy PM Khiem, who is also head of the State Steering Board for Border Demarcation, praised the historical significance of the completion of the Vietnam-China land border demarcation, highlighting contributions by ministries, sectors and localities to the works.
In order to build the Vietnam-China land border of peace, friendship and long-lasting stability, the Deputy PM asked ministries, sectors and localities to closely coordinate in implementing documents on the Vietnam-China land border following the Prime Minister’s instruction on July 27, 2010.
He also asked ministries, sectors and localities to complete the apparatus of land border demarcation steering boards at all levels.
