A Vietnamese-Chinese joint celebration of China’s National Day and the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi was held in Hanoi on September 29.

The event was organised by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations (HAUFO) in coordination with the Chinese embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnam-China Friendship Association.

At the exchange, the Chinese ambassador to Vietnam, Sun Guoxiang, expressed his pleasure at the changes in Hanoi, especially the jubilant atmosphere in the run up to the capital’s 1,000th birthday.

He underlined that 2010 is Vietnam-China Friendship Year, marking the 60th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic ties and great progress in the socio-economic development of both countries.

The ambassador said that both countries will further cooperate to ensure Vietnam and China have a stable strategic partnership.

Also addressing the event, the Chairman of the HAUFO, Hoang Vinh Giang, said that the friendship relationship between Vietnam and China fostered by the Party, State and the people of both countries has continued to grow in line with the motto (Friendly neighbours, comprehensive co-operation, durable stability and a future-oriented vision).
