The Party, State, and people of Vietnam hope to boost the relationship with China for the benefits of both peoples, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

PM Dung made the statement at a reception for Senior Lieutenant General Guo Boxiong, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission, in Hanoi on April 13.

He welcomed the Vice Chairman’s visit, saying it will help promote the traditional friendship between the two Parties, States, and countries.

The Government leader asked both countries to work closely together to develop basic measures on issues related to the East Sea, contributing to maintaining peace, cooperation, stability, and development in the region and the world as a whole.

Mr. Guo Boxiong expressed his thanks for the PM’s warm reception and said his visit is aimed at boosting the relationship between the two countries, especially in military cooperation.

He emphasized that the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation are precious assets of the two nations.

**On the same day, General Guo met with General Phung Quang Thanh, Politburo member and Minister of National Defence.

At the meeting, both sides agreed to expand cooperation in short-term training and exchange of military trainees, rescue work, and building capacity to deal with non-traditional security challenges.
