The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and the Solidarity Front for the Development of the Cambodian Motherland (SFDCM) have agreed to boost bilateral cooperation through experience exchanges with a view to increasing the two mass organisations’ role in their national political system.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between VFF President Pham The Duyet and SFDCM President Samdech Heng Samrin in Phnom Penh on April 6.

Host and guest agreed to propose to the two governments the organisation of "Days of Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship and Solidarity" as part of a programme in celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Vietnam will send 40 representatives to visit Cambodia and attend a grand meeting held on this occasion.

While in Cambodia, the Vietnamese delegation met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and paid courtesy visits to President of the Cambodian People's Party and President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Chea Sim, and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen.

The King and government leaders of Cambodia extended their thanks to the Party, government and people of Vietnam for helping Cambodian people escape from genocide. They also thanked the VFF for supporting the SFDCM in fulfilling its role during the past struggle for national independence and the current national construction.

For his part, President Duyet affirmed that the VFF and Vietnamese people always attach great importance to developing the friendship with the Cambodian people.
