Vietnam and Cambodia have agreed to promote cooperation in education, training, human resources development, exchange visits by delegations and share expertise in political ideology to solidify relations between their respective militarys.

The agreement was reached at the talks held in Hanoi on August 22 between Senior Lieut. Gen. Ngo Xuan Lich, Head of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army and General Neang Phat, the Secretary of State of the Cambodian Defence Ministry.

During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on the international and regional situation, reviewed the results of cooperation in 2001 and 2012, and devised orientations for future cooperation.

Mr Lich said that what they have achieved in defence cooperation over recent years is a clear testimony to the solidarity and close-knit friendship between the two countries.

He asked both sides to ramp up dialogue to further the cooperation between their respective militarys and work towards the common goals of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

The same day, General Neang Phat and his delegation met with Minister of National Defence, General Phung Quang Thanh.
