The President of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians’ League, Ho Duc Viet, has expressed his wish that Japan would intensify its assistance to Vietnam in education, training and human resource development.

Receiving Japanese Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone in Hanoi on May 24, Viet said that in addition to sending students to Japan for study, Vietnam wants Japan to help in training middle and high-level cadres and share experience in social and economic management.

He also requested that Japan step up its coordination in implementing infrastructure projects in Vietnam, thus boosting bilateral cooperation in the hi-tech field.

On this occasion, Viet expressed his wish that Japan would soon recognise Vietnam’s market economy, and complete procedures for the ratification of the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement in order to contribute to the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

Japanese FM Hirofumi acknowledged active developments in the Japan-Vietnam relations, both in bilateral and multilateral aspects.

He asserted that he, in his position, always pays attention to promoting the rapport between the two nations and accelerating cooperation projects signed by the two countries.
The Japanese FM is in Vietnam to attend the ninth ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting slated for May 25-26.
