Vietnam backs efforts for peace and stability in northeast Asia and the non-nuclearisation of the Korean peninsula, said a Vietnamese diplomat.
At a UN Security Council emergency meeting in New York on July 7, Vietnam’s deputy representative to the UNSC, ambassador Hoang Chi Trung, stressed that peaceful dialogue and negotiations, including the six-party talks, is the only method to attain an acceptable solution to nuclear weapon non-proliferation and related issues.
The ambassador expressed concern about the DPRK’s recent missile launch, saying the action has further complicated the situation, which is unfavourable for peace and stability in the region.
He also called on the DPRK not to conduct any more missile firings and abide by the UNSC’s decisions.
