The two sides reached the agreement during a recent visit to Australia by a delegation of the Vietnamese Defence Ministry led by Deputy Minister Sen. Lieut. General Nguyen Huy Hieu.

From March 11-15, the Vietnamese delegation met with Nick Warner, General Secretary of the Department of Defence; Michael Pezzullo, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Defence; and Lieut. General Ken Gillespe, Acting Commander in-chief of the Defence Forces of Australia.

During the visit, the delegation also had a working session with Theo Theophenous, Minister of Industry and Regional Development of Victoria state, and visited several military units and defence industrial establishments in Australia.
