Representatives from four Mekong River countries gathered in the central resort towns of Cha-am and Hua Hin, Thailand, beginning April 2, to discuss management of the river’s resources.

The Mekong River Commission’s (MRC) International Conference, themed "Trans-boundary Water Resources Management in a Changing World," is a two-day event seeing the participation of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and the host country, Thailand,

Solutions from the meeting will be forwarded to leaders of the member countries at the MRC Summit, and representatives from China as observer. The summit is slated for April 4-5 in Hua Hin.

The meetings are being held as the water level in the Mekong River has recently dropped dramatically, to the lowest level in 50 years, having a severe impact on people of all nations living along the river.
