Chairman of the Vietnam Sub-committee to the Francophone Parliamentary Forum (APF) Nguyen Ngoc Tran attended the organisation’s regular meeting in Chalons-en-Champagne, France, from January 15-20 to review its activities over the past four decades.

During his stay, Mr Tran, who is also Vice Chairman of the Vietnam National Assembly's Committee for External Relations and Vice President of the APF, met with President of the French Senate Christian Poncelet and President of the French Parliament Jean Louis Debre on the sidelines of the meeting.

He also held a working session with the head of a preparatory organising board of the seventh Vietnam-France meeting on decentralised cooperation, scheduled for Montreuil city, France, in October 2007.

French officials spoke highly of Vietnam’s achievements in 2006 and expressed hope that the multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and France will further develop in the coming years.
