A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Nguyen Manh Hung, Deputy Head of the CPV Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations attended the 17th meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum which opened in the Nicaraguan capital Managua on May 18.
 

The event marked the 116th anniversary of the birth of Nicaragua’s national hero, Augusto Cesar Sandino, and the 50th anniversary of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN).

500 delegates from 42 political parties in 32 countries attended to the forum along with local and international guests.

In his speech at the meeting, Mr Hung highlighted President Ho Chi Minh’s Thoughts on “Solidarity, solidarity, great solidarity – Success, success, great success”.

Nicaragua’s President and General Secretary of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (SNLF), Daniel Ortega recalled Vietnam’s great victory over the US in the resistance war for national salvation while saying he hopes to further promote the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries, states and peoples. He also thanked Vietnam for its great support for Nicaragua’s just struggle over the past years.

The meeting focused on issues in Latin America aiming to increase cooperation among Latin American leftist forces to implement national reforms, social welfare and democracy to continue wining votes in future elections in their countries.
