Vietnam and Venezuela have agreed to cooperate in their potential areas, namely energy, oil and gas, mining, production of consumer goods, agriculture and fisheries.

The remarks were made by local senior officials and visiting Deputy Foreign Minister of Venezuela Hely Vladimir Villegas who took part in working sessions with officials of the Party Central Committee's Commission for External Affairs, the Industry Ministry, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and the Vietnam-Venezuela Friendship and Cooperation Association.


The Venezuelan Deputy FM also had an annual political consultative exchange with his Vietnamese counterpart Le Van Bang.


In these meetings, the two sides shared the same views that friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries have developed rapidly in the recent past.


They agreed plan to hold the first meeting of the Inter-governmental Cooperation Commission in Caracas soon to work out cooperative measures.


The Venezuelan side affirmed their support for Vietnam's application for non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the 2008-09 term.

Deputy FM Villegas said Venezuela attaches importance to Vietnam's position in the region and the world and is keen to boost relations with Vietnam.
