President Triet expressed his delight at the Cuban people’s tremendous success in the cause of national construction and development and declared that Vietnamese Party, State, and people will always stand by to help Cuba.

Mr. Triet said he believes this visit will strengthen solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

General Miera, who is also Cuba’s Deputy Minister and Chief of the General Staff of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, said it was his honour to meet with president Triet, adding that this meeting symbolises the close solidarity between their countries.

President Nguyen Minh Triet conveyed to General Miera his best wishes for President Fidel Castro and other Cuban leaders.
