The Party and State will adopt more incentive policies towards foreign investors to do business on a stable and long-term basis in Vietnam, State President Nguyen Minh Triet assured foreign investors in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in central Quang Nam province.

Mr Triet was meeting with engineers, workers and foreign investors at the Chu Lai-Truong Hai Automobile Factory in the zone during his trip to the central region on January 29-30.

While working with local authorities, he praised the province’s achievements after 10 years of being split from Quang Nam Da Nang and asked it to pay due attention to improving the living conditions of social policy beneficiaries and ethnic groups in mountainous districts.

Quang Nam should devise appropriate solutions and policies aimed at creating a breakthrough in economic development and narrowing the development gap between the highlands and lowlands, said Mr Triet.

During a working session with the Da Nang municipal Party Secretary, Mr Triet hailed the city’s success in developing the local economy, tackling social issues, investing in education, healthcare and poverty reduction and improving the living conditions of social policy beneficiaries.

He asked the city to boost investment in urban infrastructure construction closely linked to its overall planning in the future.

Da Nang City should make the best use of Party guidelines and State policies to attract foreign investment and create favourable conditions for enterprises to develop production in industrial parks and export processing zones,” said Mr Triet.

He asked municipal authorities to increase the qualification of cadres and officials at the grassroots level to institutionalise the political system and consolidate people’s trust in the system.

The State President went to see officials and staff of the Military Command No 5 and Da Nang C hospital. He reminded them of the zone’s strategic position in the current process of national industrialisation and modernisation and wished them a happy New Year and successful implementation of their new tasks.

On January 30, the State President visited and extended Lunar New Year wishes to the Party Committee and people of central Quang Ngai province.

He spent time inspecting construction projects in Dung Quat economic zone, particularly the Dung Quat oil refinery project. He highly valued the working spirit of more than 4,000 engineers, workers and foreign experts at the construction site and asked contractors to ensure a joyful Tet festival for all workers.

The lunar New Year Festival (Tet) will fall on February 17.
