Vietnam – a destination for world leaders amid global trade tensions

VOV.VN - Argentina's Infobae newspaper recently published an article on the visit of Brazilian President Lula da Silva to Vietnam in March, alongside upcoming visits by leaders from Spain, France, and the European Commission (EC).

These visits highlight the growing interest of world leaders in Vietnam amidst rising global trade tensions, driven by the impact of new US tariffs.

Infobae reported that after President Lula da Silva's visit, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will visit Vietnam in April, followed by French President Emmanuel Macron and EC President Ursula von der Leyen. These visits reflect the increasing interest from countries and regions in Vietnam, one of Asia's most dynamic economies, with a growth target of 8% set for 2025. The trade policies under US President Donald Trump's administration are prompting these leaders to enhance trade, investment, and reduce the impact of the White House's planned tariffs.

According to Infobae, Vietnam offers several attractive factors for foreign investors, including political stability, a low-cost labor force, and a strategic location that allows easy access to the Chinese market, positioning it as an alternative in the global supply chain.

The article also noted that Vietnam is working to diversify its trade through participation in important free trade agreements, such as the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

For Spain, Infobae stated that the economic relations between Vietnam and the Southern European country are framed by a free trade agreement with Europe. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is expected to explore new business and trade opportunities in renewable energy and infrastructure with Vietnam.
