Vice State President Truong My Hoa on January 9 praised the achievements obtained by young people in the Central Highlands in their local socio-economic development as well as in national defence and construction.

Vice President Hoa was speaking at a conference on ways to unite young people of ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands. The conference drew the participation of senior officials from central and local agencies.

The Vice President emphasised that young people in Central Highland provinces should further uphold their pioneering role and continue to lead volunteer campaigns in rural areas in the mountainous region.

The conference, organised by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee in coordination with the Central Highlands Steering Committee, will last until January 10.

During the past few years, the union has paid special attention to the youth movement in the Central Highlands, contributing to local socio-economic development. Many projects carried out by local young volunteers have brought about important socio-economic results.
