The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) should better play the leading role in promoting the strength of not only 84 million Vietnamese citizens but also more than 3 million others overseas to turn challenges into opportunities and integrate well into the world, says Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.

Mr Manh made the statement during a reception in Hanoi on February 2 for a delegation of the VFF Central Committee who came and congratulated the Party leader on the 77th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3). The delegation includes representatives of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, the Vietnam Catholics Church, personalities and intellectuals.

Mr Manh said when Vietnam integrates deeply into the region and the world, people from all social strata should grasp opportunities and overcome challenges to fulfill the country’s important tasks.

He praised the front’s contributions to national development, saying the front plays a very important role in building the bloc of great national unity and promoting the aggregate strength of the nation.

Mr Duyet briefed Mr Manh on VFF activities in 2006 and said resolutions of the recent 10th National Party Congress have been grasped at the grassroots level.

VFF will encourage people from all social strata to successfully implement Party resolutions to build a strong bloc of great national unity, said Mr Duyet.

The same day, the VFF delegation visited former Party General Secretary Do Muoi and congratulated him on his 90th birth anniversary. Mr Muoi expressed his elation at the country’s rapid development in recent years and his gratitude to late President Ho Chi Minh, the Party and people.
