The State President made the statement while working with the Vietnam Veterans’ Association on April 10. He affirmed that the Party and the State really appreciated the veterans’ devotion to the revolutionary cause of the Vietnamese people over the past years. He expressed his delight at the strong development of the association in the past 18 years, which has admitted more than 2.2 million members so far. The association has constantly raised its prestige by participating in building the Party and maintaining political stability, Mr Triet said.
The State President also praised the association for encouraging the veterans to strengthen solidarity and improve living conditions. He also asked the Vietnam Veterans’ Association at all levels to help 9 percent of its poor members and their families to enjoy a better life.
At the working session, Mr Triet also gave guidelines on preparations for the 4th National Veterans Congress.
