The statement was made by Nguyen The Trung, Deputy Head of the Central Party Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission, during his visit to the SBV in Hanoi on May 10 to mark the 2555th Year of the Buddhist Calendar.
Trung briefed Most Venerable Thich Thanh Tu, Vice Chairman of the SBV’s Executive Council and monks and nuns on the key tasks of the entire Party and people in 2011 with a focus on implementing the Government’s Resolution 11 and preparing for the elections of the 13th National Assembly and People’s Council for the 2011-2016 term.
All socio-economic achievements recorded over the past years are attributed to the significant contributions by the SBV and clergies. However, the SBV needs to make greater contributions to national development. Trung noted.
The same day, the President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), Huynh Dam extended his best wishes to Buddhist followers inside and outside of the country on the 2555th Year of the Buddhist Calendar in the lead up to the 30th anniversary of the SBV.
