General Gary North, Commander of the US Pacific Air Forces, who is on a working visit to Vietnam, was received at the headquarters of the Defence Ministry on March 4 by Tran Quang Khue, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army.

General Khue said he hailed the visit by Mr North and his entourage, considering it a good chance for the two countries’ air forces to exchange experience and seek possible fields for cooperation.

In recent years, the Vietnamese and US militaries have cooperated effectively in language training, meteorological forecasting, and searching for US servicemen missing in action in Vietnam.

General Khue expressed his hope that the two sides will continue their ties of cooperation to the benefit of both countries.

Commander North briefed Mr Khue on his delegation’s meeting with Vietnamese Air Force and Air Defence officials and said he hopes both countries’ air forces will continue sharing experience in flight safety, rescue, disaster relief, and weather forecasting.
