The US Congress will support promotions of further cooperation with Vietnam in economics and combined efforts to cope with climate change, said Senator Daniel Inouye who is also the Chairman of the US Senate Committee on Appropriations.

During his visit to Vietnam from April 27-30, Senator Inouye met with Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh.

Deputy FM Minh praised the positive developments in the Vietnam-US relations while affirming that Vietnam will continue to pursue a foreign policy of openness, diversification, multilateral relations, and active international integration, in which the country attaches great importance to its relations with the US as a top strategic partner.

Mr Inouye expressed his delight at Vietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development and affirmed that the US Congress will strongly support joint efforts to bring bilateral relations to a higher level and will pay more attention to dealing with the consequences of war including Agent Orange (AO) issues.
