Theodore Christian Engelbrecht, former Head of the US’s Lutheran Church-Mission Synod Office (LCMS) in Vietnam, was awarded with the insignia “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” for his contributions to Vietnam’s health care and education sectors.
The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organiations handed over the award at a ceremony in Hanoi on September 8.
Over the past 15 years, Theodore Christian Engelbrecht and LCMS have focused on their projects on nutrition in rural areas, children’s health, medical staff training and equipment provision.
Through a contingent of volunteers, LCMS also assisted English teaching at schools in Hanoi and the northern province of Phu Tho.
These projects have contributed to the socio-economic development of Vietnamese localities and the fine relations between the two countries’ people.
