While receiving Ambassador Le Hoai Trung, a permanent representative of Vietnam to the UN, on July 20, Mr Ban thanked the Vietnamese Government’s support for the UN. This has been demonstrated through the country’s activities during its term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and its contributions to the UN reform, such as one- UN initiative in Vietnam.

Ambassador Trung affirmed that Vietnam will continue to cooperate with the UN following the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, development and active international integration.

Vietnam will contribute to implementing the UN’s mission of maintaining peace and security both domestically and internationally, promoting cooperation for development, coping with new challenges facing the international community and reforming the UN.
