UN hails Vietnam’s consistent support for multilateralism and international law
VOV.VN - The UN General Assembly President has praised Vietnam’s consistent commitment to multilateralism, international law, and the UN Charter.

Ambassador Do Hung Viet, head of the Vietnamese Permanent Mission to the United Nations on July 3 paid a courtesy visit to Philemon Yang, President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, at the UN Headquarters in New York, marking the start of his tenure.
Ambassador Do Hung Viet congratulated President Philemon Yang on the positive outcomes achieved by the General Assembly in its 79th session. He welcomed the session’s theme of “Unity in Diversity”, which he described as particularly relevant amid the current challenges facing multilateralism and the United Nations.
The ambassador emphasized that dialogue and mutual respect are fundamental to maintaining international peace and security, as well as to promoting sustainable development. Drawing on Vietnam’s own historical experience, he expressed a desire to make practical contributions to reconciliation and post-conflict healing, and affirmed Vietnam’s readiness to share its experience and further enhance its role in building sustainable peace.

President of the General Assembly Philemon Yang welcomed Vietnam’s development and diplomatic achievements, and recognized the country’s increasingly important role at the UN. He particularly hailed Vietnam’s consistent stance and commitment to multilateralism, international law, and the UN Charter. He wished Ambassador Do Hung Viet success in his term, while expressing hope that he will help further elevate Vietnam’s international profile and contribute effectively to bolstering dialogue and cooperation among UN member states.
Earlier, from June 30 to July 3, the Vietnamese diplomat also met with senior UN officials, including Under‑Secretary‑General for Peace Operations Jean‑Pierre Lacroix, Under‑Secretary‑General for Operational Support Atul Khare, Under‑Secretary‑General for Policy Guy Ryder, and Under‑Secretary‑General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Izumi Nakamitsu.
During these meetings, Ambassador Viet expressed appreciation for the UN’s continued support and cooperation with Vietnam and reaffirmed the country’s strong commitment to the UN agenda, especially in processes and initiatives aimed at dealing with global challenges.
