The Investigation Security Agency under the Ministry of Public Security has prosecuted and arrested two more Vietnamese citizens on a charge of carrying out anti-State activities, according to the General Department of Police at press briefings in Hanoi and HCM City on June 18.

The two detainees were Tran Huynh Duy Thuc (from HCM City) and Le Thang Long (from Quang Ngai province).

They all violated article 88 of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the arrests were approved by the Supreme People’s Procuracy, said the General Department.

Earlier on June 13, Le Cong Dinh, a lawyer in HCM City, was also arrested on the same charge.

At the investigation police agency on June 17, Dinh admitted that he had taken part in a training course on non-violence fight run by Viet Tan terrorist group in Pattaya, Thailand, in March 2009. On March 26, he met with Nguyen Si Binh and Tran Huynh Duy Thuc to discuss the founding of the so-called Workers’ Party of Vietnam and the Social Party of Vietnam to mobilise forces in an attempt to overthrow the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

To carry out the plan, Dinh and these elements discussed the compilation of a book “the Vietnam Road” in which they believe that “the chance to overthrow Vietnam will take place in 2010”.

In his statement, Dinh wrote that he broke Vietnamese law, regretted what he had done and appealed for leniency from the State.
