Apart from being an eminent leader of the Vietnamese revolution, an outstanding student of late President Ho Chi Minh, a great national cultural activist and poet, Truong Chinh was also a great personality and a staunch communist deserving to be a brave example for other communists in any period of time to follow, said Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh.

A ceremony to mark the 100th birth anniversary of late Party General Secretary Truong Chinh (February 9) was held in Hanoi on February 8.

Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, State President Nguyen Minh Triet, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Pham The Duyet and other revolutionary veterans attended the ceremony.

Truong Chinh was born on February 9, 1907 at Hanh Thien hamlet, Xuan Hong commune, Xuan Truong district, Nam Dinh province and participated in the revolutionary cause from 1925. During 63 years of devoting his life to the revolutionary cause his name was linked with many milestones of the country. Truong Chinh was elected as Party General Secretary three times in 1941, 1945 and 1986.


Truong Chinh was not only an excellent strategist, but also a talented leader who led the Party and the whole nation successfully and fulfilled the national liberation goal, as well as constructing the country in the 20th century.


Speaking at the ceremony, Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh reviewed Truong Chinh’s revolutionary activities and highlighted his great contributions to the revolutionary cause for national liberation and construction. As a well-known journalist, Truong Chinh wrote many articles which inspire great combative strength and high mercy.


Party leader Nong Duc Manh said, “Apart from being an eminent leader of the Vietnamese revolution, an outstanding student of late President Ho Chi Minh, a great national cultural activist and poet, Truong Chinh was also a great personality and a staunch communist deserving to be a brave example for other communists in any period of time to follow.”


The success of the 10th National Party Congress has provided fresh impetus for the country’s comprehensive Doi Moi (Renovation) process in which Mr Chinh had made substantial contributions to fostering, perfecting and building the Renewal process initiated by the  Party, with a focus on economic reform.


Delegates also reviewed Truong Chinh’s  activities and highlighted his positive contributions to the Vietnamese revolution as well as to the process of national renovation, construction and development.


Young generations of Vietnamese are always proud of their ancestors' fine traditions and will try their best to build Vietnam into a rich and prosperous country worthy of the sacrifice and contributions of former generations.
