On November 26 afternoon, NA leader Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and her delegation arrived at Changi International Airport, beginning their official visit to Singapore at the invitation of the Singaporean Parliament.

Among welcoming guests at the airport were Deputy Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament Lim Biow Chuan, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Nguyen Tien Minh and along with numerous embassy staff and  Vietnamese community representatives in Singapore.

Over the past years, Vietnam and Singapore have worked closely on the realization of the contents of the strategic partnership affirmed in the Joint Statement in 2013 aiming to develop two countries' relationship in a practical and effective manner.

Singapore is one of Vietnam's largest trade partners, currently the ninth largest trade partner and the third largest investor in Vietnam.

The official visit by National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and the high-level NA delegation is designed to tighten relations among senior leaders, especially when Singapore has just elected the President and the Speaker of the Parliament for new terms.

The visit is in response to the official visit to Vietnam by Singaporean Speaker, now President Halima Yacob and to maintain the exchange of high-level delegations of the two legislative bodies.

During the visit, both sides will exchange views on the proposed amendment to AIPA Regulations in the time to come and introduce Vietnam’s legal policies, and investment and business environment.

Immediately after their arrival at the airport, Ngan and her delegation met with Vietnamese embassy staff in Singapore.
