Top Vietnamese leader visits school named after late President in Ulaanbaatar
VOV.VN - Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on October 1 visited Inter-Level School No.14 named after President Ho Chi Minh on October 1 in Ulaanbaatar during his state visit to Mongolia.
The current Head of State laid flowers at the statue dedicated to the late leader and toured the space commemorating him at the school’s campus.
Writing in the memory book there, he showed his elation at visiting the school, which is one of the major national schools of Mongolia which has trained many talents for the North Asian country.
He voiced his hope that the school's teachers and students will continue promoting their glorious tradition, completing their tasks and missions, meeting the expectation of the Mongolian people, living up to its name, and further contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries.
The school currently has about 6,000 students, along with 238 teachers and staff. One of the typical activities of the school is to honour the great career of President Ho Chi Minh and the school's students can also learn about the culture and customs of the Vietnamese people.
The Vietnamese leader and delegation were treated with art performances featuring traditional Mongolian culture and honouring President Ho Chi Minh. As part of this occasion, the school launched a painting, photo, and literature contest on the topic of exploring the Vietnamese nation.
Principal Gungaajav thanked the Vietnamese people for offering their warmest sentiments and support to the school, helping it to improve the studying environment for students.
The same day, To Lam also visited the Vietnamese Embassy and met with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Mongolia
The State leader stated that his trip is of importance, as it takes place amid the bilateral relationship being at its best; mutual understanding and trust between both nations’ people deepening; and co-operation in various fields such as politics, defence, security, economics, and tourism expanding; thereby achieving tangible results in recent times.
The two sides recently announced the establishment of a comprehensive partnership on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of diplomatic ties and discussed major measures aimed at promoting linkages in a deeper, more effective, practical, and long-term manner, he said.
Regarding the Vietnamese community in Mongolia, the top leader stressed that the community must continue promoting the spirit of solidarity, strive to grow stronger, actively integrate, comply with Mongolian law, and contribute to both the host country’s development and the Vietnam - Mongolia comprehensive partnership.
He therefore urged the Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia to uphold its role as a bridge connecting the two countries and their ministries and sectors to effectively implement agreements between the high-ranking leaders of the two nations, including a joint statement relating to the establishment of the Vietnam – Mongolia comprehensive partnership, as well as co-ordinating to effectively promote all-around ties.
The Embassy was also asked to competently carry out community-related affairs and citizen protection in the North Asian country.
Ambassador Nguyen Tuan Thanh reported that there are currently around 900 Vietnamese people living in Mongolia.
Previously, the top leader and the delegation visited a memorial site dedicated to late President Ho Chi Minh located there.
