Top leader To Lam calls for continuous support for national contributors
VOV.VN - Expressing gratitude to national contributors is an enduring responsibility of the Party, State, and society, Party General Secretary and President To Lam said at a meeting in Hanoi on August 18.
The gathering, convened by the Politburo and the Secretariat ahead of the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), brought together current and former senior Party and State officials to honor veteran leaders and review national progress.
Addressing the event, the top Vietnamese leader emphasized the national tradition of remembrance, stating that looking back is essential for moving forward. He called for accelerating social welfare policies, housing support, and efforts to locate and identify fallen soldiers' remains ahead of the 80th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day in 2027.
"Every generation faces different circumstances and tasks, but all share the common goal of serving the Fatherland and the people," To Lam said. He noted that while history does not require younger generations to repeat the exact methods of their predecessors, it demands absolute loyalty to the Party's ideals and the courage to innovate.
To fulfill these commitments, the leader urged turning political resolve into concrete outcomes that citizens can see, feel, and enjoy. He called for building a lean, efficient governance structure, eliminating bureaucratic delays, and shifting the national growth model toward productivity, technology, and human capital.
Reaffirming the value of veteran leadership, To Lam directed relevant agencies to thoroughly process and incorporate the constructive feedback shared by delegates into upcoming national development strategies.
At the ceremony, To Lam and other senior leaders presented prestigious state honors, including the Ho Chi Minh Order, the First-Class Independence Order, and Party Membership Badges, to former top officials in recognition of their lifelong service to the nation.
