Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung praised the efforts made by Da Nang city in mobilizing all resources to build Vietnam’s most modern and longest suspension bridge as a contribution to developing local transport infrastructure and giving fresh impetus to the city’s economic development.
The building of the Thuan Phuoc bridge, 2.100 m long and 18 m wide started on January 16, 2003 at a total cost of VND1,000 billion.
The same day, PM Dung also attended another ceremony to build a new bridge called the Rong (Dragon) bridge, spanning the Han River to link with the city center of Danang.
The Rong bridge, 670 m long and 37 m wide, with a total investment capital of VND 1,500 billion will be built using advanced domestic and international technology in line with Danang’s master plan for socio-economic development, construction and transport.
