Thua Thien-Hue province in Vietnam cooperated with Salavan and Sekong provinces in Laos to complete planting landmarks between the two countries two years ahead of schedule.
In the first half of this year, the two sides completed planting the five remaining landmarks and three pairs of stakes. The three provinces have worked closely together to survey the geography and agree on where to position the landmarks. They overcame many difficulties, including bad weather to complete the task.
In the near future, relevant authorities on both sides will build dykes around the landmarks and disseminate information on the border landmarks before handing over the landmarks to border guards to manage.
