Thai Friendship Association’s work lauded

Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on September 12 praised the contributions of the Vietnam-Thailand and Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Associations in nurturing the intimate ties between the two countries over the years.

During a meeting with Chairman of the Thailand-Vietnam Association Prachuab Chaiyasan in Hanoi, Hai expressed his delight at the developing relations between Thailand and Vietnam.

The upgrading of bilateral ties to a strategic partnership in June this year marked a milestone in the history of the two countries’ relations, he said, adding that Vietnam and Thailand are the first two members of ASEAN to establish a strategic partnership.

According to Hai, the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association has organised numerous activities over the years to connect the two countries’ people.

He thanked the friendship society for its support to the Vietnamese community in Thailand, and expressed his belief that it will, together with the Vietnamese side, work more effectively to strengthen the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

The association’s chairman briefed Hai on the activities of his delegation in Vietnam over the past few days.

The two sides agreed to enhance activities to mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Thailand.

Chaiyasan expressed his belief that the two friendship associations will play a key role in fostering Vietnam-Thailand relations in the near future.
