Present at the talks were the president of the Cuban Movement for Peace and People's Sovereignty (MOVPAZ), Jose Ramon Rodriguez; OSPAAL’s president, Alfonso Fraga; CEAO’s vice director, Eduardo Regalado; and representatives from the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee (CPCCC)'s Commission for External Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Cuban Institute for Friendship Between People (ICAP).
Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Vu Chi Cong highlighted the meaning and practical value of Uncle Ho’s testament which has been a guideline for the Party and the whole Vietnamese people in their struggle for national independence, freedom and unity. The testament emphasises solidarity in the Party and among people as well as the close relationship between the Party and people, especially youth. Under the leadership of the Party and support from international friends, Vietnam fulfilled the national democratic revolution, liberated the southern region to unite the country and achieved significant results in the building of a socialist republic.
Ambassador Vu Chi Cong reviewed the brave actions and undaunted will of heroic martyr Nguyen Van Troi and said that Troi set an example for later generations to follow. Mr Cong also recalled the brave actions of a Venezuelan guerrilla who wanted to save Nguyen Van Troi from enemy.
On the occasion, participants watched a 20-minute document on political, economic, cultural, scientific and technological achievements that Vietnam has made in the renewal process.
On the same day, the Cuban “Granma” newspaper and the Venezuela new agency ABN run articles hailing heroic martyr Nguyen Van Troi.
