Construction of a new navigation antenna in Vietnam’s territorial waters, is scheduled for completion in September.
According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA), the antenna will be located near an existing 1,200-meter-long airstrip on Ba Binh island.
Once completed, the seven-meter antenna will allow an increase in the number of flights to the island, where military transport planes are often forced to abort landings because of poor visibility.
On August 23, a Vietnamese Foreign Ministry spokesman demanded Taiwan cancel its planned live-fire training on the island.
