Swiss experts optimistic about enhanced Vietnam-Switzerland cooperation
VOV.VN - Vietnam and Switzerland are set to explore new opportunities to deepen their partnership, focusing on expanding academic initiatives, training programs, and tourism collaboration. Both nations have agreed to prioritize cooperation in key areas such as innovation, science, technology, and knowledge sharing in the near future.
Philipp Rösler, Honourary Consul of Vietnam in Switzerland and former Deputy Chancellor of Germany, emphasized that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s leadership of a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos was a valuable opportunity for Vietnam to showcase its national achievements, especially in the economic sector. He pointed out that Vietnam’s impressive economic growth rate of over 7%, achieved amid global challenges, reflects the country’s resilience and success. Rösler congratulated the Vietnamese government and expressed hopes for even greater cooperation between the two nations.
Looking ahead, Switzerland plans to continue supporting Vietnam through its 2025-2028 Development Cooperation Programme, managed by the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education, and Research. The program aims to help Vietnam achieve its ambition of becoming a high-income, sustainable economy.
Both countries will focus on collaboration in innovation, green finance, intellectual property, and the development of an international financial center in Vietnam.
Rachel Isenschmid, a member of the Swiss-Vietnam Economic Forum (SVEF), remarked that Vietnam is poised to enter a new era of high-income and sustainable development, where every individual and organization will play an essential role. She believes that elevating the bilateral relationship at this crucial time will contribute significantly to the realization of these goals. In the near future, SVEF plans to focus on projects that foster collaboration across governments, organizations, businesses, and individuals from both countries.
According to Dr. Luu Vinh Toan, a senior expert at Move Digital AG in Zurich, there are ample opportunities for the two countries to bolster cooperation in human resources development, renewable energy R&D, and application. He sees this as a significant opportunity for both nations, particularly for overseas Vietnamese and intellectuals who have worked to boost bilateral ties over the past five decades.
Dr. Toan also expressed his hope that Vietnam and Switzerland would continue to deepen educational cooperation, especially in high-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, robotics, smart healthcare, and fintech. With its dynamic economy, skilled workforce, and rich resources, Vietnam stands out as a reliable partner for Switzerland, offering access to both the ASEAN market and the broader global supply chain.
