Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong have wished for effective investment and trade co-operation between Vietnam and Laos to provide a firm foundation for boosting relations in various fields in the future.

On February 23, Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong and his senior cabinet delegation started their four-day visit to Kon Tum, Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

On behalf the PM Dung, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc warmly received Mr Thammavong and his delegation at Pleiku airport, saying his visit is a manifestation of the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between the two countries.

Deputy Phuc praised Laos’ significant achievements in socio-economic development and foreign affairs which have raised the country's position in the region and the world.

He said the visit will create a good opportunity for both sides to share experiences in socio-economic development and further strengthen the close-knit relationship and comprehensive cooperation between localities.

For his part, the Lao PM expressed his delight at visiting the three provinces in the spirit full of strong solidarity between the two Parties, Governments and peoples.

Deputy PM Phuc and Lao PM Thammavong agreed to actively implement the agreements reached at the 34th session of the Inter-governmental Committee with the aim of utilizing the available mechanisms of cooperation to make bilateral economic cooperation more effective and substantial.
