A high-ranking delegation led by State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan left Vietnam on April 29 to pay an official visit to South Africa.
The Vice President will later attend the 21st Global Summit of Women in Istanbul from May 5-7 at the invitation of the Summit’s President, Irene Natividad.
Doan’s visit to South Africa at the invitation of South African Vice President Kgalema Motlanthe aims to discuss measures to bolster multifaceted cooperative relations between the two countries, especially in trade, science, technology, education, training and transport.
Vietnam’s attendance at the Global Summit of Women affirms the Vietnamese Party and State’s policies for women’s progress.
The summit offers Vietnam an opportunity to introduce the country’s policies and its achievements in fulfilling the Millennium Development Goals on gender equality. It will also improve relations with female leaders worldwide and provide an opportunity to seek cooperation partners for women’s development and promote the status of Vietnamese women in world forums.
