State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on May 5 met with a Chinese delegation of former military consultants and war veterans visiting Vietnam during celebrations of the 55th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory and the 34th anniversary of Southern Liberation Day.
These Chinese delegates helped Vietnam during the past wars of resistance against French colonialists and US imperialists. Many of them joined the Vietnamese army and people to defend Hanoi, build and repair railways, roads and bridges during the wars.
Ms Doan thanked the Chinese people for their valuable assistance to Vietnam and affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam attach great importance to strengthening its traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with China.
Jing Dunquan, Vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, affirmed the camaraderie between the two people.
Earlier the same day, the delegation was received by the Defence Minister, General Phung Quang Thanh.
