During his visit on April 28, the State President explained that the province needs to offer the right kind of business environment, particularly in its administrative procedures, to be able to attract more investors.

President Triet also praised the province for having made socio-economic achievements in recent years.

However, despite the ongoing global economic recession, the province is set to increase its industrial production by 9.6 percent from a year ago with the poverty rate falling to 12.1 percent in 2008. The President asked the provincial authorities to make a greater effort in its fight against poverty and pay special attention to people in remote and mountainous areas as well as ethnic minority people.

During his visit, President Triet attended the start-up of the Binh Dien hydro-electric power station, 25 km to the West of Hue City.
