State President visits a historical site in Tuyen Quang

President Truong Tan Sang on February 14 visited Kim Binh Commune, Chiem Hoa District chosen to pilot the new national rural programme, in the northern mountain province of Tuyen Quang.

Mr Sang paid tribute to war martyrs at the Kim Binh Historical Monument where late President Ho Chi Minh and other State and Party leaders had met for the second National Party Congress in February 1951 to rename the Party from the Indochinese Communist Party into the Workers' Party of Vietnam.

Mr Sang’s visit coincided with the 61st anniversary of the congress.

He congratulated communal authorities and residents on their socio-economic development in connection with the implementation of the new rural area programme which gives priority to improving the living standards of local people.

The State leader urged the commune to focus on ensuring sustainable growth, boosting commodity production and taking better care of those who contributed actively to the resistance wars in the past.
