The State President, who is also director of the Central Steering Committee of Judicial Reform, made the request during a judicial sector conference held in Hanoi on January 9-10 to review its activities in 2006 and discuss tasks for 2007.

In order to meet new requirements for international integration, the judicial sector should quickly draw up special programmes to strengthen human resources and boost personnel training, Mr Triet said. He also recommended that the sector examine its legal documents to supplement, amend or abolish inappropriate regulations, thus making the system of legal documents comply with international laws.

He also requested that the judicial sector work closely with relevant agencies to quickly put forward those cases of people's concern, boost the dissemination of information to raise public awareness of laws, and ensure that all people abide by those laws.
